Morning Session at Abai University
Malika, Mattes, Sean, and Khanjan visited Abai University and met with the Vice-Rector for Academic Activity, Narbekova Banu Mukataevna, the Vice-Rector for Strategy and Internationalization, Iskakova Aigul Toleutaevna, and the Head of Institute of Geography and Natural Science. During this meeting, we explored opportunities to advance our partnership. We agreed to continue the conversation with a 2-hour roadmap planning session next Monday, where we will delineate our respective roles within this collaboration. We are enthusiastic about their willingness to work with us and look forward to our next meeting.
Afternoon Session at Haileybury Almaty
In the afternoon, we had a fruitful meeting with Peter Gooding, Head of Sustainability for the Junior School, at Haileybury Almaty, an English private school. We presented the features and benefits of Save Tuba and outlined the details of our pilot program. Additionally, we conducted our first formal demonstration of the mini-games, mastery questions, and teacher interface in English, Kazakh, and Russian. We are eager to continue our partnership with Haileybury Almaty in the upcoming school year, pending their commitment to our pilot program. A follow-up meeting is scheduled later this week to present to the Headmaster and science teachers who will be utilizing our system.
What’s Next?
Haileybury Almaty is just the beginning of many school meetings to come. The success of today’s discussion and the overall positive reception of our system bode well for Save Tuba’s future. Next, we have the pleasure of meeting with Shadiyev Kairatbek, the Rector at Gymnasium No. 178, where we will be presenting Save Tuba to a board of science teachers from several schools. We are excited about the prospects for tomorrow. Additionally, we have significant preparation ahead as we outline the specifics of our partnership with Abai University over the next couple of days.
Exploring Almaty
Today, we embarked on a culinary and cultural journey through the city, starting with a meal of traditional Kazakh food, including a larger beshbarmak, at Paradise. The family style sharing gave us a true taste of Kazakh heritage. Our adventure continued with an informal tour by Alma U students, who generously shared glimpses of their daily lives with us. Throughout our walk they shared details about their daily lives, including visits to local fruit shops, stops at their favorite restaurants, and a leisurely walk around their neighborhood. Through these experiences, we gained a deeper appreciation of the local culture, cuisine, and the everyday lives of the people in this beautiful city.
