This Privacy Policy describes how Save Tuba, developed by Lehigh University, collects, uses, and protects information from users of the Save Tuba mobile application (“the App”). We are committed to protecting the privacy of all users, especially children.
1. Who We Are
Save Tuba is an educational mobile application developed by Lehigh University in partnership with Abai Kazakh National Pedagogical University and Almaty Management University. The App is designed for children ages 8 to 11 to learn about environmental sustainability.

2. Information We Collect
We collect only the information necessary to provide the App’s educational features. This includes:
- Account information via Google Sign-In: When a user logs in with Google, we receive their name, email address, and profile photo as provided by Google. This is used solely to create and identify the user’s account within the App.
- Student progress and lesson completion data: We record which lessons, chapters, and activities a student has completed in order to track their progress through the curriculum.
- Assessment scores: We store scores from in-app quizzes and activities to support learning outcomes and allow teachers to monitor student progress.
We do not collect device identifiers, behavioral analytics, location data, contacts, or any information unrelated to the App’s educational purpose.
3. How We Use Your Information
Information collected is used solely for the following purposes:
- Creating and maintaining a student account within the App
- Tracking and displaying a student’s progress through the curriculum
- Allowing teachers to view student progress and assessment scores through the teacher dashboard
- Improving the App’s educational content based on aggregated, anonymized usage patterns
We do not sell, rent, or share personal information with third parties for marketing or advertising purposes.
4. Children’s Privacy (COPPA)
Save Tuba is designed for children ages 8 to 11. We take children’s privacy seriously and comply with the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and applicable Kazakh data protection regulations.
- We collect only the minimum information necessary for the App to function.
- Student data is not used for advertising or shared with third-party advertisers.
- Parental or guardian consent is obtained before a child begins using the App, through consent forms distributed by their school.
- Parents or guardians may request to review, correct, or delete their child’s personal information at any time by contacting us at savetuba2023@gmail.com.
5. Teacher Dashboard
Teachers and school administrators may access a dashboard that displays student progress and assessment scores for students in their classroom. Access to this dashboard is limited to authorized teachers associated with a student’s school. Teachers may not use this data for any purpose other than monitoring and supporting student learning.
6. Third-Party Services
The App uses the following third-party services, each of which has its own privacy practices:
- Google Firebase (Google LLC) — used for authentication, database storage, and cloud storage. Firebase stores user account and progress data on secure servers. See Firebase Privacy Policy.
- Google Sign-In (Google LLC) — used for user authentication. See Google Privacy Policy.
We ensure that all third-party services used are configured to provide equivalent data protection standards.
7. Data Storage and Security
User data is stored on secure servers hosted in Kazakhstan, as required by applicable regulations. We implement reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect personal information from unauthorized access, loss, or misuse. In the event of a data breach affecting user information, affected users and their parents or guardians will be notified promptly.
8. Data Retention and Deletion
We retain user data for as long as the App is in active use by the student’s school or as required to fulfill the purposes described in this policy. Users, parents, or guardians may request deletion of their data at any time by contacting us at savetuba2023@gmail.com. Upon a valid deletion request, we will remove personal information from our systems within 30 days.
9. Your Rights
Users, parents, and guardians have the right to:
- Access the personal information we hold about them or their child
- Request correction of inaccurate data
- Request deletion of personal data
- Withdraw consent for data collection at any time
